iannone design is a Philadelphia based business run by Michael Iannone. The two items above, the Signature 2.0 cabinet and the Kirei mod coffee table, are a couple of his sustainable furniture products. Each piece of furniture is made using Kirei boards, which is made from the reclaimed stalks of the sorghum plant. The concealed parts of the furniture is constructed from formaldehyde free FSC certified plywood, all with a low VOC finish
Kirei boards is made from the residual stalks from the sorghum plant after its use in alcohol and molasses production. The stalks of the sorghum are washed, compressed and woven into engineered building sheets and bonded using a formaldehyde-free adhesive.
