TranSglass is a range of glassware made from recycled wine and beer bottles designed by the Dutch designer Tord Boontje and manufactured by Artecnica. Fantastic examples of turning rubbish into well designed and stylish items.TranSglass is also part of an initiative from Artecnica called "design with conscience", the idea being to tie design with social responsibility.
With the help of Aid to Artisans, a Guatemalan workshop has created work for 22 artisans who prior to this, were either unemployed or performing as laborers. They have now learned a craft and take extreme pride in their ability to cut and polish the tranSglass bottles.
