The self fab house competition

The IAAC, the Institute for Advanced Architecture in Catalunya Spain, is holding an international competition for architects, designers and students from around the world, for the construction of self-sufficient dwellings with an emphasis on exploring people’s capacity to self-construct their own homes.

This 2nd Advanced Architecture Contest directed by Lucas Cappelli is for the design of a “SELF-FAB HOUSE” using industrial or traditional craft-based techniques.

The themes for the contest are:

1. A Community/Self-Fabricated World
2. Digital Materialization and Programmable Construction
3. Rapid Modification and Permanence
4. Emergent Design, Peer Production and Free Source
