Go ahead given for Taralga windfarm

In an controversial decision, the Land and Environment Court has given approval for a wind farm to proceed near the historic NSW town of Taralga. The issues surrounding the proposed wind farm brought all of the greater communities objections to wind farms to a head.
The general basis of the objections came down to a simple case of NIMBY ism, Justice Preston ruled that the public benefit of a major renewable energy source outweighed residents' private concerns.
Hopefully this decision will lead to an increase in the development of wind farms and the communities gradual acceptance of them as part of the landscape, much as they are across parts of Europe and the UK.
